Depositing Money

Most players from the UK will deposit money using either their credit or debit card. This is the fastest and most efficient way to make any transaction. Luckily the UK doesn’t have the same problems that a lot of Americans have, with lots of credit card transactions being declined by the credit card companies as the legal situation there is somewhat up in the air at the moment.

However, it is possible that some UK credit card companies will deny transactions as well. Your best alternative in this case is to use a debit card (Switch, Solo or Delta) as most of the casinos listed on this site will also accept these and they should almost always go through without a hitch.

Another way to fund your casino account is to open an EcoCard account. This is an online payment service that you fund using either cash deposits, online and offline wire transfers or interbank wire transfers.

Other methods to deposit that some casinos will accept include wire transfers and cheques, however I don’t recommend either of these. Wire transfers, although a good way if you are transferring large amounts, can carry large charges from the banks, and that means you’re going to have less money to play with.

Sending cheques is also not a good way of depositing money. Most casinos are based abroad, and so after you send your cheque it could be a while before the casino even receives it. The casino will then wait for the cheque to clear before it credits your account. It could take a couple of weeks before you can start playing, whereas if you used your credit or debit card it would normally be less than a couple of minutes and often instant.

We list all the methods of depositing money that each casino will accept in the reviews section along with the games they offer.

Now to the important part:

Cashing in your Winnings

There are different ways to receive your money when you cash out from a casino. These normally depend on how you deposited in the first place, though sometimes you will have a choice how you are paid.

If you deposited using a credit card, what will normally happen is this: Any deposits you have made using your credit card will be refunded to the card and any surplus will be sent by cheque. For instance, if you made a deposit of £150, played some games, then cashed out £500: £150 will be refunded back to your credit card, and you will receive a cheque for £350.

If you use a debit card it is much simpler and quicker. Normally all the money you cash out from the casino will be sent back to your debit card. It should show up in your bank account within a couple of days, obviously a lot quicker than waiting for a cheque to come through the post and then waiting for it to clear.

One important thing to note about cashing out your money is that it is not necessary to do it every time you end a playing session. If you think you will be playing at the casino again soon it will be better to leave the money in the casino account where it will be perfectly safe and waiting for you to come back the next time you want to play. Of course if you have a win you might want to take a bit out and leave some in there for the next time you come back. This is what I often do.
